Eco2Phy - the project
Phytase is one of the key players when it comes to the long-term replacement of mineral phosphorus in feed. The R&D team at Kaesler Nutrition is cooperating with researchers from Jacobs University Bremen within the Eco2Phy Project on further optimising the use of the enzyme phytase.

Why phytase is so important
Phytase cleaves phosphate from a plant-based storage medium, making it accessible as a nutrient to fish or terrestrial animals. Mineral phosphorous then no longer needs to be supplemented to the feed.
The focus is on the development of a more environmentally friendly production process to break down phosphate from a plant-based storage medium. The project could result in considerable savings of phosphorous emissions.
The Eco2Phy Project project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the state of Bremen and by BIS within the PFAU environmental directive.
